RESILIENT PEOPLE

Jennifer Powell and the loss of her friend Tracy

Episode Summary

RESILIENT PEOPLE is a podcast hosted by me, Janet Fanaki. I share my conversations with regular everyday people who are admired for their resilience. They've managed a major life challenge, found a purpose from it and now help others to be resilient too. This season I've made a bit of a pivot and now focus on speaking with people who have moved forward from grief. In only five years I experienced the loss of my 51 year old husband, parents and 25 year old daughter. This new format to the show is an opportunity to share advice from others about getting back to living again after suffering a personal loss. Grief is complicated, hard and sometimes seemingly never ending. I'm using this platform to bring inspiration, a new mindset and motivation to those who feel stuck in not being able to let go. Now more than ever I've embraced the idea that life is too short for some and that its vital to run with the good moments when they present themselves in between the tough ones.

Episode Notes

Jennifer Powell is a Mom and entrepreneur who lives in Toronto. She approached me to share her story about her dear friend Tracy who passed away at only 43 years old.

The two were close for years, building a solid foundation of friendship and female support. They even spoke about their wish to spend their retirement years drinking gin on the porch together.

My talk with Jennifer not only revolved around her love for Tracy, but also how she honoured her legacy and became determined to live a full life.

How did she start? She and her husband sold their house and took their children on a trip around the world. Crazy but also super inspiring!
